Afghan Women and Children in need is a new, non-profit organization that was started in November 2007.
Our mission is to rebuild five schools in Afghanistan. We are starting with twom because there is so much
that each school needs. There is no running water, inadequate bathrooms, and no electricity. The buildings
have been destroyed by the Taliban. They are currently conducting classes outside on the ground. The children
are afraid to go to school because it is not safe.
Our first priority is to build a barrier wall to protect the childrenfrom just anyone approaching the school.
Then we can work on tre water and electrivity and the structure. Once the buildings are up they need all the basic
school supplies, from desks and chairs to paper and pencils.
The Project will take at least five years to complete. We also hope to raise enough money to cover the teachers'
salaries. Right now there is no budget in the government to take care of this. Each school will cost around $400,000
to build. We appreciate anything you can give.
We are currently trying to make as many people aware of our cause as possible. We are contacting newspapers,
and new programs. We are also speaking to local government officials, who are going to help in thefund raising process.
We are also planning to host our own fund raising events such dinners. We have already received small donations from
individuals and hope to raise more money to accomplish our goal. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Kathy Muradi, Founder
